Become a trustee

We are a small charity run entirely by volunteers. You can volunteer with Brighter Futures Zambia in the UK in different roles. We are currently recruiting for a Treasurer, a Community & Social Media Trustee, and for a Fundraising Trustee. Please get in touch if you’re interested in joining our friendly and committed team. We’d love to hear from you.

Host a bake sale

Why not volunteer to host one of our “Bake a Brighter Future” events at work or at home? We can send you leaflets and fundraising goodies. Get in touch to join our Brighter Futures Zambia star bakers club!

Even small amounts can make a huge difference to the lives of the children we support.

-£5 buys a school uniform

-£12 buys a goat for an orphan household

-£25 buys a place at a pre-school for 25 children for one month

You can donate online through JustGiving either as a one-off donation or monthly by direct debit, or you can also donate by cheque. And remember to GiftAid your donation – if you are a UK taxpayer, it adds extra value to your donation.

Sponsor a child for £15 a month

Help us raise funds

There are many ways to raise money for children in Zambia. Previous fundraising volunteers have given up alcohol for a month, hosted a clothes swapping event and asked friends and family to give donations instead of birthday or wedding gifts. Whatever you decide to do, we can provide publicity material and are happy to help with fundraising ideas or give advice on planning an event. We can also help you promote your event or activity on social media. Please contact us.

Try a sponsored event

Doing a sponsored walk, swim, run or triathlon can be a great way to get fit and raise funds. One of our supporters, Alice, ran the Bristol half marathon last year and raised over £800 – enough to fund a feeding programme for a whole year! Find out about the difference you can make by contacting us.

Become a website volunteer

As our Website Volunteer, you’ll play a key part in delivering our mission. We believe that every child has the right to education but in many Zambian homes there is no money spare for fees, uniforms or equipment. Many children are forced to drop out of school because of this. That’s where you come in. Using your skills, you can help us to support children, young people and their carers in Zambia to live happier, healthier, safer and more secure lives with a chance at a brighter future. Your role will be to ensure our website is updated and maintained, and any issues are in hand.

Website Volunteer Key tasks

– Manage the maintenance and development of our WordPress website
– Regularly back-up the website in a secure way
– Ensure plugins are regularly updated
– Advise on hosting and management
– Coordinate with developers to help resolve any issues
